Coats – trends for this autumn/winter season
Did you already buy a coat for this winter? It is already cold so if you haven’t and are not sure of what’s trendy this year this article may help you!
I am going to show you some beautiful – trendy coats, but as an Image Consultant I also have to warn you… a trendy garment does not always look good, it all depends on your body type, so before buying one think about your figure and make yourself some of these questions: Does it look good on me? Is the color flattering? Does it make me look taller/slimmer/proportioned? If the answers are “yes” you have found your perfect trendy coat!
Another thing to take into consideration is that trends come and go and, before buying something trendy you should be sure you already have a classic basic coat in a neutral color (black, brown, blue, grey or camel); a coat of the best quality you can afford, with no frills or big trendy details, that will last for many years in your closet. A coat you can use with almost all your clothes, don’t forget that this is a garment you will wear almost everyday for more than 3 months! Ok, once you have your classic coat you can buy a trendy one. Don’t spend too much money on it, that way when the trend passes you will not regret having it hanging in your closet or giving it to the more needed people.
So, finally, the trends! here are some pictures. This year the colors you will see the most are marsala and pink (Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Giamba, Elisabeth & James, Paul Smith, etc.), sky blue (Dolce & Gabbana, Belstaff, Philosophy) orange (MSGM) and all “autumn like” colors as all yellows from dark to pastel (Versace, Moschino, Rochas, etc.), green (Christian Dior), rust (Philipp Plein), and others.
Regarding the shapes… you will see many retrò models in the boutiques (Prada, Miu Miu) as well as the military style ones, yes the army is back with all the beautiful buttons and double breasted silhouettes (Gucci, Valentino), the list could be endless, some of them are long and oversized, others long and slim (Christian Dior, Emilio Pucci), or short (N°21, E. Pucci), or really oversized (Chanel); made of tweed (Marc Jacobs), with geometric designs (Fay, Chanel, Blugirl), of fur… please I really suggest you to choose a faux fur (Louis Vuitton, Giamba, etc.), etc., etc.
